Mr. Jim Thompson As principal of Screven County Middle School, it is my goal to create an environment where every student can achieve academic success, experience personal growth, and learn new talents and skills. I have high expectations for students, faculty, and staff and I am committed to ensuring that each student has the opportunity for a positive middle school experience and a successful transition to high school.
A major focus of SCMS is to instill positive character traits such as respect, honesty, collaboration and a sound work ethic. These qualities, which will help students succeed throughout their lives in all circumstances, are imbedded in our school culture and are constantly encouraged and nurtured. Our goal is not only to help our children become better students, but to become better people who will do great things in our community and our world.
I will work to build and maintain a relationship of trust between our school and parents as it is essential that parents understand and believe that we at SCMS have their child’s best interests in mind. While the structure, curriculum, and policies of the middle school are markedly different than those of the elementary school, they are designed to help children transition smoothly through a very challenging time of growth, and become prepared for the even greater demands of high school.
I challenge every student to set high goals for themselves in academics, behavior, and personal growth, and then make the choices each day that will turn those goals into realities.
